Bizmeed - Online Networking

FAQ

We understand that when you're registering on a new website you can have problems getting past the initial stage. With this in mind we've put together an FAQ section to guide you through the process, so you can speed through it and begin to make the most of Bizmeed.

If there's anything we've missed please tell us so we can make Bizmeed as easy as possible to use.

What exactly does Bizmeed do?

Bizmeed has been designed to help you network online, so you can meet new businesses, tell people about your business and learn about theirs. All from the comfort of your own computer. By doing this you can reach new businesses without any travelling costs, expenditure or wasted time.

I only have limited access to the site, how do I access the rest of it?

You need to register in order to get full use of Bizmeed, just click on 'Sign up online free' or 'Register' on the homepage, then follow the instructions. None of your details will be passed onto any third parties, so you can sign-up with full peace of mind.

What do I do next?

Fill in some details on your company and on yourself. Make sure you save each section before moving onto the next.

You can also upload your company logo, by clicking on 'My Bcard' in the grey navigation area at the top, then on the left hand side click on the words 'Change Photo.'

What's a Bcard?

Your Bcard is a virtual business card, but with more features than a normal printed business card. By using the Bcard you can tell people more about your business, link them to your website, upload your company logo, create your own blog, manage your calendar and chat with other businesses using Bizmeed's own Instant Messenger. The more details you put into the Bcard the more effective it will be.

I've registered but I still don't have full use of the site. Why is this?

All members are manually approved by the Bizmeed staff within 24 hours. The reason we do this is so that we can filter out spam from genuine businesses, keeping Bizmeed spam-free.

I like the face-to-face contact that Networking offers, why should I use this?

This isn't the end of face-to-face networking, but it does mean that you don't have to attend multiple networking events before you find a business which makes it worth your time.

Using Bizmeed you can search for businesses and in the same way people will find you through searching geographical areas, sectors or keywords. So make sure you give as much information as possible, so you're even easier to find.

You can contact each other how ever you want, Bizmeed takes no commission, it is merely a useful service for networking. You can also publicise your own events, conferences and seminars through the website, so by no means is this the end of meeting people in person.

I'm having problems uploading my photo or logo.

After clicking on 'Change Photo' under the section 'My Bcard'. Click on 'Upload Photo', give the photo a title and a description before clicking 'Continue'.

The picture must be saved on your computer as a .JPG or .GIF file and be a maximum of 600x600 pixels or 4096 KB. If you're unsure of your pictures specifications, open the picture up on your computer, right-click with your mouse, select 'properties', then click on 'summary' to view the width and height in pixels. Or click on 'general' to view the size of the picture in KB, if the size exceeds the specifications you'll have to resize it before you can upload it.

If your picture meets these specifications you should have no problems uploading your picture. Simply click on 'Browse', double-click on the picture you want to upload, then click on 'Upload Photo.'

I want to upload a photo but I keep being taken back to my 'Edit Bcard' section.

This is because all members are manually approved by the Bizmeed staff. Once you have been approved you will have access to the rest of the site, including the ability to upload your photo. You will be approved within 24hours of signing up; the reason we do this is so that we can filter out spam from genuine businesses, keeping Bizmeed spam-free.

I've uploaded the picture but I can't make it appear on my Bcard.

All you need to do is choose the picture that you want to appear as you Bcard photo, then click on 'Make Bcard Photo' just under your chosen picture.

What is a 'blog'?

A blog is a section of Bizmeed where users can create their own online entries, in much the same way as a diary, except with a blog you can talk about specific topics and progress in that area, normally in a journalistic writing style. These are made public to read and other users can leave comments.
It is a useful way of passing on information or merely voicing your own thoughts on a matter, contentious or otherwise.
Why not read some of the existing blog entries to get an idea of what yours could look like.

How often do I need to log-on to Bizmeed?

As often as you want, but we suggest a minimum of once per week. The more you log-on the more you can network, keep up-to-date with who's new on the website and see if anyone's interested in your line of business. You don't want to miss out on new business, so why not check-in every day and make it part of your daily routine.

What does the term 'Bizmeed' mean?

The word Bizmeed derives from "biz" and "meed". Biz being an informal term for Business; and Meed meaning:

1. A fitting recompense
2. Archaic. A merited gift or wage
3. Worth, excellence

The term Bizmeed literally means "business rewards", "business gift" or "business wages". Or if you want to be even more casual about it, it means it'll be good for your business.
